Founded in 1956, Spalding & Rogers is a well-known American tattoo supplier that has taken the world by storm as the largest manufacturer and distributor of tattoo equipment in the world.
Spalding & Rogers is named after its two founders, Huck Spaulding and Paul Rogers, a tattoo artist who later joined the company for only a few years.
For many people, Spalding & Rogers may be remembered for their advertisements on the back covers of major tattoo magazines; even in Japan in the 80s and 90s, after reading Huck Spaulding's book "Tattooing A-Z," Spalding & Rogers, Inc. Many people in Japan in the 80's and 90's may have read Huck Spalding's book "Tattooing A-Z" and purchased a starter kit from Spalding & Rogers to get started. Don Ed Hardy called Huck Spalding "one of the forerunners of the tattoo renaissance.
Huck Spalding made a name for himself as a tattoo machine builder, a veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marine and U.S. Army, and had a very successful business as a supplier. He passed away on February 1, 2013 at the age of 84.
